Workshop dinnerThe dinner has been arranged for Weds 11th at the Cafe Corniche (http://cafecorniche.se/).
If you have any special dietary needs (e.g. vegetarian), please let the meeting organiser know in advance: a.hannachi@misu.su.se. Practical exercisesThe theme of the exercises this year is convection and we will be looking at case studies of tornado formation in the USA and convection over Africa. To get the most benefit from these practical exercises we recommend some revision on convective theory. A good starting point is the ECMWF training course notes by Peter Bechtold on 'Atmospheric Moist Convection' found here: http://www.ecmwf.int/en/learning/education-material/lecture-notes. The exercises will take place in the computer classrooms at the Dept. of Meteorology If anyone would like to work through the exercises with their laptop, wireless access at the Department can be provided. To run the exercises you will need the latest version of the VirtualBox or VMplayer software installed. |
