- Log into the lab PC with your class username and password which you received at registration.
- After a successful login, navigate to your N Drive filespace via the file explorer (yellow folder icon in the bottom task bar). The N Drive (N:) should appear as the last option when you click on “This PC” on the left-hand side in the file explorer window.
- Once you’ve accessed your N Drive, you’ll find a directory named ‘MobaXterm_Portable_v11.1’ and in there the ‘MobaXterm_Personal_11.1.exe’ executable. Double click on the executable to launch MobaXterm.
- In the MobaXterm window, click on ‘Start local terminal’ in the centre. This will launch a terminal window from which the RACC can be accessed via secure shell protocol.
- At the terminal prompt type:
ssh -X cluster.act.rdg.ac.uk
followed by the enter key. - Enter your class account password if prompted.
- Once you are connected to the RACC, you’re in your home directory, which has a quota of 20GB. Use this to store your data from the practical sessions. If necessary, we have provided a second directory for any data overflow in
/scratch1/ECMWF/<your username>
- Software on the RACC is accessed via the module command. Type
module load metview
to load the metview software into your environment and typemetview
to launch it.
