- Extension of surface-atmosphere tiling approach over land and water, cryosphere snow/ice, urban/forest canopy tiles for seamless coupling
- Parameterisation and benchmarking of subgrid effects of the surface energy and water redistribution (fluxes and reservoirs)
- Thermal coupling and land-use/water-use change assessment (using satellites skin temperatures and machine learning)
- Hydrological coupling with river catchments and refinement of multi-layer soil/ice/snow schemes
- Natural and anthropogenic carbon fluxes for environmental monitoring and prediction

I contribute to the development of the Earth surface component in the ECMWF Integrated Forecasting System. Representing soil, lakes, rivers, vegetation, snow at kilometric scale has great scientific and technological challenges and large scope to unleash enhanced predictive skills.
