Spectral and grid resolution
As a spectral model, OpenIFS spatial resolution is expressed both by the spectral wavenumber truncation and the configuration of the gridpointsphysical grid on which the physical processes are represented. Spectral transforms are used to transform from one space to the other. IFS uses a hybrid vertical coordinate with a finite element vertical discretization.
More details of the supported resolution configurations In principle IFS can support various configuations of spectral and gridpoints but in practise only a number of configurations are provided for and supported. More details can be found in the following pages.
