TIGGE-LAM Panel of Expert
The TIGGE-LAM Panel of Experts was established to support the development of the Limited Area Model Ensemble Prediction System component of TIGGE. This Panel works in close coordination with the GIFS-TIGGE WG, in liaison with already existing LAM EPS initiatives and in coordination with the THORPEX regional committees.
The role of TIGGE LAM Panel is to:
Encourage a coordinated approach to LAM EPS and recommend solutions to facilitate the development of collaboration for the mutual benefit of WMO members
Formulate proposals to facilitate the interoperability of the different modelling systems contributing to TIGGE
Formulate proposals for the creation of a coordinated distributed archive of limited-area ensemble forecasts i.e. TIGGE-LAM archive as an extension of TIGGE (global) one
Contribute to the definition of scientific issues related to LAM EPS end particularly to TIGGE-LAM and should propose specific initiatives to explore these issues in a focused and organized way to advance LAM EPS

TIGGE-LAM archive in the frame of GEOWOW project
The idea to extend the TIGGE archive with ensemble forecasts from limited area models had started around 2008, but only recently came to life in the frame of GEOWOW project.
During the first phase of GEOWOW project (more specifically its Work Package 4) it has been worked on an extension of the TIGGE archive to include regional ensemble forecasts (TIGGE-LAM). The TIGGE-LAM archive is planned to contain input from various European contributors. A working relation with these potential Data Providers of Limited Area European Ensemble Prediction Systems was established.
Currently there are around ten data providers who expressed their interest in participating in the project.
The second phase of the project development will also improve the accessibility of TIGGE data by developing the ability to efficiently access long time series of forecast data at specific geographical locations.
Please refer to the Development section of this site for all information from the building phase of TIGGE-LAM archive and related tools.
