Update of ECMWF forecast system. A new version of ECMWF IFS model (cycle 47r2) has been introduced at ECMWF since 2021-05-11. In the IFS Cycle 47r2 single-precision for ENS (forecast up to day 46 and hindcast) and HRES (forecast) has been introduced. Moreover, the ENS vertical levels has been increased to 137 to bring it in line with HRES. The processing of the IFS reforecasts, available for S2S as well, from 2021-05-13 (run in advance) has been suspended so that they would be computed from today by the new model version. After the recent Meteo-France model upgrade to the version CNRM-CM6, there is an issue with 2 metre minimum and maximum temperature. Both fields contain the mean 2-meter temperature over the past 6 hours instead of the correct values of 2 metre minimum and maximum temperature. This error affects both the real-time data since the real-time forecasts since the 22nd October 2020 and also t he corresponding set of the fixed reforecasts (1993-2017) archived under the model version date 2019-07-01. As this error cannot be easily fixed in the reforecast data, it was decided not to fix for consistency the real-time forecast fields either. For more details go to the page Issues with data. |
