On 22nd January 2021, we announced that due to an intermittent connection issue between the ADS and the MARS tape archive where "slow-access" EAC4 data is stored resulted in many requests to fail.
We are pleased to inform our users that the connection issue has been fixed and access to the full EAC4 data has been restored.
Apologies for the inconvenience this issue may have caused
Users attempting to download "slow-access" EAC4 data from the Atmosphere Data Store (ADS) may see their request fail with the following error message "Failed to read 4 - Could not find a MARS database to perform request - Request failed - Some errors reported". "Slow-access" data is stored on MARS tape instead of disk. Unfortunately there is an intermittent connection issue between the ADS and the MARS tape archive which results in some of the requests to fail (some will however complete ok).
The Data Store team is aware of this issue which they are actively investigating.
We hope to resume a full operational service as soon as possible. We recommend that users watch this post as we will update it with the latest information.
We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause in the meantime.
