The World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) Commission for Basic Systems (CBS-2016) recommended to establish a Lead Centre for Wave Forecast Verification (LC-WFV) and to designate ECMWF as this Lead Centre.

Current project phase
The project is still in its development phase, the production archiving and verification has not started yet.
We have been still mostly gathering information helping us to establish data format and file name convention for the project.
Regular data acquisition from two stakeholders has already started (production archiving and verification is in progress).
The institutes participating in the current Wave Forecast Verification Project maintained by Jean Bidlot for JCOMM have been mainly invited but other Centres are welcome to join the project.
